Serving the Community That Supports Us

Ducks Give Back is the community outreach arm of the Gueydan Flying Ducks.

Its purpose is to organize and highlight the ways the Flying Ducks can give back to Gueydan, Vermilion Parish and surrounding communities.

Basketball gives us a platform.

Ducks Give Back is about using that platform responsibly.

We believe that when an organization asks a community to buy tickets, wear its merchandise, support its sponsors and cheer for its players, that relationship should work both ways.

The community supports the Ducks.

The Ducks should support the community.

What Ducks Give Back Represents

Ducks Give Back is built around four ideas:

Service

We want members of the Flying Ducks organization to participate in projects that benefit the community.

That may include charitable events, school activities, community cleanups, food or toy drives, youth programs and partnerships with local organizations.

Youth

Young people are one of the most important groups we can impact.

Through player appearances, basketball clinics, dance programs, mentoring and game-day experiences, we want children to interact with positive role models and see opportunities they may not have previously considered.

Recognition

Every community has people who quietly help make it stronger.

Teachers.

Coaches.

First responders.

Volunteers.

Business owners.

Parents.

Community leaders.

Longtime supporters.

Ducks Care gives us a platform to recognize some of those individuals and let them know their work matters.

Community Pride

The Flying Ducks want people to feel proud when they see the Gueydan name represented.

We want our players and staff to understand that wearing Flying Ducks colors means representing more than a team.

It means representing a community.

Future Ducks Care Opportunities

As Ducks Care continues to grow, we envision community programming that can include activities such as youth basketball clinics, school visits, reading programs, holiday drives, community-service days, youth mentorship, sponsor-supported charitable programs, recognition nights and player appearances.

We also want our home games at The Pond to provide opportunities to highlight local organizations and individuals doing positive work throughout Vermilion Parish.

Our community calendar should eventually become just as important as our basketball calendar.
